Dave Mitchell
Longleaf Swine, Raleigh
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University’s Culinary Studies program in Charleston, SC, Chef David Mitchell has spent the past two decades making his mark on restaurants across the Southeast. He earned his first Head Chef position at just 23 and has since led the kitchens of several Triangle institutions, including Porter’s City Tavern, Nofo, and Busy Bee Café.
In 2011, Chef David took the helm at Busy Bee Café, helping transform it into a destination for craft beer and inventive Southern cuisine. His creativity shined through curated beer pairing dinners and an ever-evolving seasonal pub menu. He later played a key role in developing the original menus for Trophy Pizza on Morgan Street, State of Beer, and Mama Crow’s in Transfer Co. Food Hall.
Following COVID-19, Chef Dave led the kitchen at Plates Neighborhood Kitchen, where he highlighted his passion for fresh pasta and locally sourced ingredients.
For the past year and a half, Chef Dave has been leading the culinary experience at Longleaf Swine, bringing his creativity, technical skill, and ingredient-driven approach to shaping and elevating our barbecue experience.
In addition to his restaurant leadership, Chef Dave is an accomplished entrepreneur and remains active in catering and personal chef projects throughout the Raleigh area.
